The speaker of Catalonia's parliament acknowledged in court on Thursday that a constitutional mechanism whereby the central government revoked her region's self-rule after it tried to secede from Spain had to be abided by and the Catalan declaration of independence was symbolic.
Carme Forcadell and the two members of her Speaker's office who testified before the Supreme Court's judge Pablo Llarena agreed to comply with the application of Article 155 of Spain's Constitution in Catalonia and said the Unilateral Declaration of Independence of Oct. 27 was purely symbolic.
