EU has banned oil supplies via the northern branch of the Druzhba oil pipeline to Poland and Germany

The European Union has completely banned the supply of crude oil from Russia to Poland and Germany through the northern branch of the Druzhba oil pipeline. This was announced on Friday, June 23, by the EU Council in a press release posted on its website.

“The temporary reprieve granted to Germany and Poland regarding the supply of crude oil from Russia through the northern section of the Druzhba pipeline is ending,” the Council said.

However, the EU allows the continuation of the transit and import of oil via Druzhba if it was produced in any third country, for example, in Kazakhstan, the press release says.

The ban on the supply of crude oil from Russia is part of the 11th package of sanctions, the approval of which became known on June 23. The list of sanctions also includes a ban on the export of luxury cars and electric and hybrid cars to the Russian Federation, including used ones, a ban on entry of trailers and semi-trailers from Russia into the EU, and a number of other restrictions.
