Zelenskyy says Ukraine deployed new long-range weapon, hints at Russia raid

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his country has developed a weapon that can hit a target 700km (435 miles) away, in an apparent reference to an aerial attack this week on an airport in western Russia that destroyed several military aircraft.

The weapon was produced by Ukraine’s Ministry of Strategic Industries but he gave no further details.

 Russian air defense units "neutralized an unidentified object" in the western region of Pskov, the local governor said early on Friday, the same region where a Ukrainian drone attack hit military transport aircraft earlier this week.

Governor Mikhail Vedernikov posted a video on Telegram showing fire being directed through the air. He said there had been no damage on the ground.
