China is ready for the peaceful reunification of the mainland of the country and Taiwan, but it will not tolerate "separatist activities" aimed at the island's independence, Chen Binhua, the representative of the Taiwan Affairs Office at the State Council of the People's Republic of China, said.

He added that according to the law, the Chinese government can and should use non-peaceful means if necessary to ensure the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
China also called on the people of Taiwan to give up the fight for the island's "independence".
Earlier, US President Joe Biden indicated that Washington would continue to supply arms to Taiwan, despite official Beijing's protests. The American leader said this during a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, adding that the United States is seeking peace and stability in the region.
