Latvia assembles coalition of nearly 20 countries to supply drones to Ukraine

Latvia has formed a coalition of almost 20 countries to supply Ukraine with thousands of new drones, the Bloomberg news agency reported citing Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds.

According to him, the main goal of the coalition is to supply Kiev with "as many of these drones as possible." The minister noted that the number of coalition partner countries is approaching 20. He did not disclose any further details.

According to the agency, plans to create a coalition were revealed last December during a meeting between Spruds and his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said on January 10 that he had signed an agreement with Lithuania on the joint production of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) combat equipment. Zelensky also visited Latvia and Estonia to seek support from these countries.
