Peskov: strikes on Kyiv and Kharkov cannot be a response to strikes on the Donetsk Market

The explosions in Kyiv and Kharkov are not a response to Ukrainian strikes in the Donbass; the Russian military does not target civilians, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

“Our military does not hit social facilities and residential areas and does not hit civilians <...> This is what fundamentally distinguishes our military from the military of the Kyiv regime,” said the Kremlin representative.

This is how he answered a question from journalists whether it is possible to say that missile attacks on Ukrainian cities were Russia’s response to the shelling of Donetsk.

Last night, Ukrainian media reported explosions in Kyiv, Kharkov, Sumy and Dnepropetrovsk regions. An air raid alert was in effect throughout the country.

On Tuesday afternoon, Kharkov’s Mayor Igor Terekhov said in his Telegram channel that a series of explosions had occurred in Kharkov, eastern Ukraine. According to the Ukrinform news agency, at least eight explosions took place in Kharkov.

In Kyiv, Mayor Vitalii Klitschko said 20 people including three children had been wounded across at least three districts, and that several apartments and non-residential buildings had caught fire.
