The United States believes NATO represents Ukraine's future and will help it join, said John Kirby, coordinator of strategic communications at the National Security Council.
“We believe that NATO figures in the future of Ukraine. We will work with them every step on the way there,” he promised at a White House briefing.
He stressed that Ukraine has a lot to do before applying for NATO membership, including curbing corruption. Kirby added that the decision on admission to the ranks of the alliance will be made collectively by its active members, and not just the United States.
