  1. US President Joe Biden said he was the "most qualified" American to take on Donald Trump in November's presidential election as he faced growing calls from within his own party to step down.

"I think I'm the most qualified person to run for president. I beat him once, and I will beat him again," Mr Biden said during a high-stakes press conference, adding that he is "not in this for my legacy" but to "complete the job I started."

  2. US President Joe Biden mistakenly referred to Vice-President Kamala Harris as 'Trump' during a Nato press conference.

The gaffe came hours after he misnamed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “President Putin” while speaking to reporters about Nato’s support for Ukraine.

At the press conference, he also made a defiant case for staying in the presidential race and why he believes he is the best candidate to defeat Donald Trump.
