A senior Hamas official dismissed an Israeli Army Radio report claiming that the recent attack on al-Mawasi targeted Hamas military chief Mohammed Deif, calling it “nonsense.”
“All the martyrs are civilians, and what happened was a grave escalation of the war of genocide, backed by American support and world silence,” Abu Zuhri told Reuters.
Zuhri added that the attack demonstrated Israel's lack of interest in reaching a ceasefire agreement.

Al Arabiya news channel reported, citing a source, that Hamas commander Rafia Salam was killed in the strike.

Hamas, however, called the IDF's statements false and condemned the strike.
"The occupation's [Israel's] claims about striking the leaders are false. This is not the first time when the occupation claims to strike Palestinian leaders and then it turns out to be a lie," Hamas said in a statement.
