A Cuban state airways plane with 104 passengers on board crashed shortly after taking off from Havana's Jose Marti airport, leaving a thick column of smoke over the scene.
Cuban state media is reporting that three people were pulled alive from the wreckage of the plane, and are in a critical condition in hospital.
The Boeing 737 operated by Cubana de Aviacion crashed in a field near the airport.
The plane was almost completely destroyed in the crash and subsequent fire.
